Am Fwakin Feeling Good

I’ve finally reached a steady pace on my 2K set! Next month, I’ll be increasing my total distance by 1K to build endurance.

For my pool workouts, I typically do:
:man_swimming: 500m warm-up
:man_swimming: 10 × 200m on 3:00
:man_swimming: 5 × 200m fin set or breathing set
:man_swimming: 500m cool-down

I’m open to suggestions on how to structure the additional 1K I’ll be adding next month!

Thank you!

That speed for that long is awesome!

How can you get such a high heart rate while swimming? I can get to Zone 5 while running but not swimming. I feel like I’m drowning and can’t keep the speed for that long lol

On the Garmin app, you can change the zones for different sports.

From what I read online, for swimming, it should be 5 to 20 BPM less than your running HR.

That’s because you are not in the same position when running and swimming and you have to stop your breathing.

@Cassidy
Thank you! There is some testing, and it says to decrease it with 12bpm for swimming: Peak heart rates during maximal running and swimming: implications for exercise prescription - PubMed

@Cassidy
Thank you. I did not know how to answer because I do not run. I will get to Z5 when I swim faster. I am not sure if Garmin changes the zone based on the sport you are recording - I hope it does.

@Bryn
You can set it to automatic or manual.
Also it depends on your watch.

But for me, the zones for swimming were messed up before I did some running and changed the swimming part.

You can also define how to set up your zones, you can look it up. There are multiple ways, like max HR or threshold.

I did not know they made Garmin for fishes.

Very nice swim!

Great speed! Nice work

Very fast speed! Congratulations!

Amazing pace, congrats

I like to add some high HR/ Anaerobic at the end of the workout -

Like 2x ((4x100m prog. speed 1->4) + 100 cooldown.)

Always a nice challenge to keep the form good while struggling with exhaustion and lactic acid buildup.

Nice speed!

@Uma
This is great, thank you! I am trying to figure out ways to get an anaerobic set in. It has been 13 years since I was on a sports team, and I am not good at making swim sets.

My pleasure, but if you want to go AN, get to full sprints - 20x25s with 5s rest, 10x50’ with 10s rest, things like that.

Have fun!

Amazing! I am doing 200 at 3:50 and it is hard! Great speed!
