Are you utilizing that thermal blanket during winter?

@Umbrielle I am not.

Depending on if everything is thoroughly drained and/or clogged, I would say no. I live in Canada, and some men with pools in areas with no trees don’t bother covering them during the winter. Once it gets cold enough, the algae bloom doesn’t seem that horrible. If it’s entirely walled in, I don’t see how leaving it uncovered is much different from using a soft cover (which is probably not very appealing to look at).

I have a pool and spa, but I’ve never utilized a cover due of the rock formation. The pool has an odd form, but it is acceptable without a cover in my specific scenario. I’m in a more rural region, like I don’t have a fence surrounding my pool, so there’s no worry about some random child falling in.

@AquaAdventurerI know someone who felt like you until a startled deer went into his pool during the spring thaw and ruined the liner while attempting to get out.

@CurrentCraze Yeah, I’ve heard the tale before, but I’ve also heard from neighbours who have tried coverings, and we truly live in deer territory… The deer fell into the pool with the pricey cover, and it ripped, which is not covered by warranty.

So far, no problems with deer falling in, but this can happen. However, in my situation, it is not worth it because the cover would be highly pricey owing to the configuration of the rock formations, etc.
