I had to bail on counting laps halfway through because my arms were completely shot. The lifeguards even pulled up the lane ropes right before my last 100, so I had to duck under them and weave over the flags to finish. Somehow, my elbows ended up the sorest part!
10k at 1.30/100 average?

Yes, I was going to say… how is it possible to keep this pace for over 2 hours…I can’t believe it.

It is possible, the gold for 10k is 1:48:33.
It just means the person who posted this is a really great swimmer.

It’s a decent pace but not impossible at all. Our pool has an annual 100x100 with the fastest lane going at 1:30 intervals. There are usually between 6-10 people in the lane, myself included.
@Hayden
Any decent high school swimmer could easily hold this pace

I remember my high school coach making me do 50 x 100 (yards) on the 1:20. I thought he was crazy. But I made every single one of them.

Is the person who posted this a high school swimmer? The calories burned doesn’t match the effort required… but it could be a miscalculation.
@Teal
The app is really bad at estimating calories.

This could have taken 5 hours total. Long rests could have happened.

No, because in the Apple Watch there would be an ‘elapsed time’ beside the workout time. The absence of that suggests it was done all at once.
@Teal
Well, I guess Olympians are real. This is rare but not impossible.

Not trying to take anything away from the person who posted this, it’s a good average pace but it’s not that incredible…
Just so you know, most of my swim sessions are over 5K and I average about 1:32/100m, even while doing a lot of backstroke and drills.
If I was still a club swimmer as a teen, the average time would be much faster than that.
So there really is no reason to doubt the person who posted this.

He was probably doing them in 1:25 with 5 seconds to rest or move the counter.

The average pace at the top of the Apple Watch workout results includes rest time. If you go into the auto-sets section, it shows the pace per set without accounting for rest times.

I guess he was coming in at 1:20 to 1:26 the first 3/4 or so and even sped up for the last part.
only 2000 calories? what a disappointment

Calories from swimming on the Apple Watch always seem way too low for me, so I don’t really worry about them.

My heart rate is a complete mess on the Apple Watch. Shows random numbers here and there so calculating real calories seems pretty unlikely since I think heart rate is a big part of their calculation.
