I’m a new pool owner, and my pump stopped pulling water a couple days ago. It doesn’t turn on at all now. The skimmer and pump baskets were clean, water levels were fine, and the pump basket wasn’t dry. Tried priming and checking the impeller but couldn’t reach it. The fuse seems fine, and the solar heating lines look empty. Any ideas before I call a pool guy?
The engine and pump appear to be pretty outdated. It could be time for an upgrade.
@CurrentCraze I was able to get it to work by manually turning on the system after placing it in service mode though.
@AquaAdventurer I’m glad to hear you got it working.
The last page of the main menu should enable you to switch between auto, timeout, and service modes.
Auto executes your schedules, timeout runs for three hours, and service runs indefinitely. The menu arrangement isn’t that horrible… it’s just how you have to browse those menus that hurts on those controllers. Your arrangement most likely includes solar heating, which is one of the sole reasons they were put in the first place.
We call these “fun touches.”
On the SunTouch, press the menu button until you see “Timers” (if I remember right). Press the right arrow. The first screen should show the filter pump. The menu will display [Add]. Don’t press the right arrow here, or it will automatically set an 8 to 5 program. Instead, press the up or down arrow until [Add] changes to either [Edit] or [Del] (Delete). If it says [Edit], press the right arrow to see the current filter pump schedule.
NEVER press the back arrow. It won’t take you back one step like you expect. It will return you to the start of the menu. It’s the worst user interface I’ve used.
It’s on the sun touch panel. I am not familiar with these, but it is an automation panel. See if you can put it in service mode to get it running.
