SwimDialogue: anti-fog solution for goggles

I thought I ruined a great pair of Arena goggles. They went from completely anti-fog to completely foggy overnight. I was swimming frustrated. I made a mix of about 33% baby shampoo and 66% tap water in a small bottle. Sprayed it on, swished it around in the pool, and just like that, no fog for an hour. Thanks to this forum, you all are awesome.

Yeah, diluted baby shampoo works great for goggles and diving masks. It doesn’t matter if any is left since it’s no tears. Personally, I wouldn’t use toothpaste on goggles because the plastic can get damaged more easily than the tempered glass of a diving mask.

I just let a bit of pool water slosh around in them. Just a drop or two is enough and they clear up any fog as you swim.

Definitely going to try this soon. That fog really messes with me.

Put it in a small spray bottle, like a cleaned travel pump hairspray, so you can mist it on!

This also works on foggy car windshields, by the way.

It’s going to be tough to swish my car around in the pool, but I’ll give it a try.

You only need a little, so don’t fully submerge it!

On the other hand, swimming angry does lead to great sets…

I spit in them, then rinse them (under the shower). Works perfectly, I thought this was common knowledge.

It is common knowledge. My spit has never worked for decades—neither for SCUBA masks nor goggles. Lucky you.

@Zyan
Same here. What kind of super spit do those lucky folks even have? Or are we the odd ones out?

I use a bit of toothpaste on the inside of my goggles and rinse it out before swimming. It’s the best for anti-fog and gives a minty fresh feeling.

I’ve been licking the inside of each goggle before starting to swim. Someone recommended it here, and it actually works. So even if it was a prank, I’ll keep doing it.
