Swimsuit spinners are not for me anymore!

I swim regularly at my health club and usually have the pool to myself. Recently, while showering after my swim, I kept hearing the swimsuit spinner being used. The odd thing was, I was the only person in the pool that day. Curious, I checked, and sure enough, a guy was using the spinner for his sweaty gym clothes. He quickly grabbed his stuff and left when he saw me.

Now, I can’t stop thinking about all the germs and sweat that might transfer to my swimsuit if I use it. I’ve decided to avoid it entirely and just wring out my suit by hand.

Consider this a heads-up if you swim at a gym. Stay cautious out there!

Your swimsuits will probably last longer without using the spinner.

Is the spinner really that bad for suits? I hadn’t heard that before.

Yes, the spinning action can stretch the fabric and weaken the fibers over time. If you swim casually, it might not be a big issue, but frequent use can wear them out faster.

At my gym, the spinner is broken most of the time anyway. So no temptation there!

I’ve never even seen one in real life. Sounds like I’m not missing out.

The thought of those spinners grosses me out. I just wrap my suit in a towel and let it dry at home.

I had a similar experience at my gym—someone used the spinner for their shoes! Since then, I’ve been avoiding them. Wringing out my suit and packing it wet is much less gross.

I use a triathlon bag with a waterproof section for wet gear. It’s super handy, and I don’t have to deal with spinners at all.

I use a baby changing bag with a waterproof compartment. Works like a charm!

I switched to briefs when I started swimming. They’re easy to squeeze out by hand, and I never felt the need for a spinner.

Avoiding the spinner is a good call. I don’t like the idea of sharing germs or stray hairs with strangers.

I once saw a spinner full of hairs. Since then, I always check it first—but honestly, I don’t trust them anymore.

I found a disposable swim diaper in the spinner at my pool. It was used. Never again.

Swimsuit spinners tend to smell bad and damage suits. Just roll your suit in a towel to get most of the water out, and then pack it.

Swimsuit spinners can wreck your suit material over time. Definitely better to skip them.
