What Tool Do You Use to Loosen 1.5" Pool Connectors? Carpal Tunnel Issues

I’m having some trouble loosening the 1.5" connectors on different parts of my pool system. I’ve been using channel locks to get the job done, but it’s a real struggle for me since I have carpal tunnel. It’s getting painful to grip and turn these with the required force. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tool that could make this easier? I’m looking for something requiring less hand strength and is more comfortable for someone with my condition. Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!

In my case, I use strap wrenches to avoid damaging the PVC.

@Umbrielle Agreed! This is the only answer she needs.

Use larger channel locks if the smaller ones are difficult to handle. The bigger the tool, the more leverage you’ll have.

Employ the use of Channel Locks. Model 460 to be specific.

Typically a pipe wrench works well. I like how the newer pumps now come with unions, making it easy to move the pump by just unscrewing the union.

As a company owner, we always use a large set of adjustable pliers for all our installations. Since it’s plastic-on-plastic, it’s crucial to handle it carefully to avoid cracking the housing.
