I just did tryouts and got accepted for the most serious team in the area, they are sponsored by arena and they want us to buy their gear. I’m wondering why their swim gear is so expensive? For a pair of swim shorts it’s up to $500
Sounds like they are sponsoring Arena.
I believe Arena sponsors the coach’s travel. I purposely choose different swimwear for myself and my kids because I dislike the local swim team. In my opinion, it’s a bad advertising strategy to fund clubs that aren’t well-liked.
That’s … not how sponsorship works.
Also “up to” $500 does not mean all Arena swimwear is $500.
Speedo tech suits can cost up to $680 for women, and TYR goes up to $600. It’s odd that someone familiar with tech suits would still call jammers “swim shorts.” I’m curious about your team’s sponsorship, too. My high school team got sponsored by FINIS. They sent gear annually and provided a 20% discount on suits and 10% on other gear. We also got custom-made suits at regular swimsuit prices and free tech suits during State/Districts, not just for our top swimmers. All we had to do was display their logo on our website and docs. They wanted a banner at the pool, but the City said no. Club teams using our pool had a Speedo sponsorship, and I got a free polo and a 30% discount on suits for allowing their banner to be displayed
Correct. If they’re sponsoring you, you should be getting free stuff or a hefty discount. Personally, unless it was being provided for free, I wouldn’t wear an arena training suit. They just don’t fit my body type very well.
