Everything was perfect two weeks ago—clear water. Now, it’s cloudy and green, but my FC is holding steady, pH is good, and CYA is 50. I tried the SLAM method, which helped a bit, but it’s back to cloudy and green. Here’s what might be going on:
Bubbles are coming from the returns (pool company scheduled to check).
It’s been over 100°F for days (Phoenix heatwave).
Dust storms are frequent.
The pump is old (sand filter).
Any thoughts or advice based on this info?
@DiveDeepDreamer It was so high when we moved in, . Even with my frequent backwashing and switching to liquid chorine, I was still able to see an increase.
Since the water was clear, you must not be testing for phosphates very regularly. “FC is good” indicates that either FC isn’t excellent, or your pool calculation isn’t taking cya into consideration. What distinguishes a filter from a recirculation system?
@CurrentCraze There should be numerous places on your sand filter multiport, as well as a recirculate option; if there is a significant variation between filter and recirculate, you may pinpoint the problem to the sand.
