I have a saltwater pool, but I’ve turned off the SWG because my water level is too low to keep the pump running. I’m closing the pool in two weeks and don’t want to top off the water just to drop it again for winter.
Is there another way to chlorinate the pool to keep it clean until I close it?
Use a sump pump with a hose, place the hose on the other side of the pool to move some water around. Then, add one or two bags of pool shock based on your pool size. Mix the shock in a bucket first before adding it to the pool.
I use shock from Walmart that comes in 1-pound plastic bags. It’s a simple way to add a lot of chlorine, but you need to spread it around in the pool, so it’s a good idea to run the pump. If you don’t want to raise the water level (which makes sense), you can use a flexible water hose in the skimmer, like the one used for pool vacuums, to let the pump reach the water line.
@Sadie Any tube large enough (2-3") should suffice. You need some weight to hold the end of the tube in the water, which is why pool vac hoses are ideal because they are typically sold in pieces and include weight.
