Do Under Bench Pool Rollers Get Too Hot in Sunlight?

Hi all,

We’re upgrading our pool cover roller and are considering an under-bench style made of anodized aluminium. I’ve heard they can get really hot in direct sunlight. Has anyone experienced issues with these getting too hot or even burning themselves while sitting on them?

Thanks!

Our arms burn from the metal of our loungers. Before you sit on them in the sun, you will need to pour water on them.

Some folks never take off their pool cover, even during the winter. It’s a good idea to rinse it out before rolling it up and shielding your pool cover from the sun.

I believe I must create one of these.

However, it doesn’t completely shade the cover, thus the unshadowed sides will eventually begin to delaminate.

@Gia This was also on my mind. When a solar cover is left off and exposed to the sun, the water becomes damaged rapidly. Similarly, when the cover is rolled up and fully exposed to the sun, it turns into a heat trap and deteriorates quickly.
