First Time Swimming in 50 m. Pool

@Amory
Haha. I know the feeling!

It’s beautiful. Our only 50m pool is outdoors :sleepy:

My pleasure haha

It’s beautiful! Enjoy! My local pool only is Olympic length (built for the 1990 Commonwealth Games) but is normally divided into two 25m pools. They only remove the barrier on Tuesdays, which is the one day I don’t have time to swim :frowning:

@Blair
Bummer. You should make time to try it out, if you haven’t already.

Wait! Wtf. Haha, so the pool I swam in was definitely a 50 m… I thought I was swimming 100s but was really swimming 200s?! Man… no wonder.

I don’t mean to sound rude, but how do you not know the pool length when going in? Personally, I’ve never seen a pool that didn’t have all the numbers on a wall. Pretty sure it’s a safety issue.

@Luca
My pool doesn’t have the numbers on the wall and I had to look it up on the website because I never swam before so wasn’t sure what I was looking at.

@Luca
Ohh that’s interesting! My rec center doesn’t display the length either. I just verified it was 25 yrds (not meters which also feels odd) with my watch.

@Luca
I also have to check the website every time, I even asked the cashier on the way out and she didn’t know the pool length. Tbh I only asked because the pool felt really short, like 20 m but was actually 25 haha.

@Laine
Interesting. Must be a matter of cultural differences, then. Odd that the cashier didn’t know! Are there no lifeguards present?

There are several, and I could’ve asked them as well, it just came to my mind on the way out only.

It is so amazing with pace.
