Flow Meter Without Pipe Length Requirements

Hi All,

I’m looking for a flow meter that doesn’t require specific pipe lengths before or after the meter. My setup has only about 10 inches of horizontal pipe, and the return line is right next to the intake line. I tried a Flowvis, but it won’t fit with the unions.

I’ve seen Blue-White’s vertical downward flow meters but heard they might not be ideal. Any recommendations or solutions would be appreciated!

Thanks in Advance.

Give h2flow controls a try.

There’s not enough space for the unions to fit; make more room.

Check out the Blue-White range of in-line flow meters.

I originally bought the f-300 but that requires pipe length before and after as per their suggestions. Thanks for the reply though!

@Gia I initially bought the F-300, but it needs extra pipe length before and after according to their recommendations. Thanks for your reply!

@AquaAdventurer You can adjust that.

I think there are electronic sensors that use Doppler technology.

No need to measure pipe length.

@Gia The pipe length should just be correct?

If you install an analog in-line flowmeter in a short pipe, try to position it as close to the downstream fitting (like a 90° bend) as possible, without the flowmeter touching the fitting. Although there will be some turbulence, the short straight section before the flowmeter will help reduce it.

The “fudge” I mentioned involves mentally adjusting the reading to match the actual flow.

If there’s not enough horizontal space, you can also find meters that mount on vertical pipes. You should have a vertical section of pipe after the filter where you could install a vertical flowmeter.
