I’ve been swimming at the local pool every day this week and now my ear feels really clogged and painful. I can’t see a doctor right away, and I’m hoping to avoid any more discomfort. Does anyone have a reliable home remedy for swimmer’s ear that could help relieve the pain and clear up the congestion? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
A couple of months ago, I had swimmer’s ear, and it was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever had. It started with itching and gradually got worse. I went to urgent care, where they gave me ear drops and told me to return if it didn’t improve within two days. A few days later, the pain was so severe that I couldn’t sleep through the night, so they prescribed antibiotics. It’s definitely not something to take lightly.
Hopefully, it’ll clear up soon, but it’s best to get it checked out—better safe than sorry.
In the meantime, try to keep your ear dry and avoid using earbuds.
Warm compresses: Apply a warm, damp cloth to the ear for 10 to 15 minutes at a time to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. 3. Over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers: Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Advil or Motrin (ibuprofen) can help you manage symptoms associated with swimmer’s ear.
