How I Keep Raccoons from Using My Pool as a Toilet

Any easy way to stop raccoons from using my pool as their toilet? A simple board covering the first step down into the pool worked for me at my last house. Used it for 5 years with no mess to clean up. We’re renovating our current pool and plan to do the same.

Are they prevented from entering the pool by this one board? Amazing

The least of your issues is raccoon poop. The main issue is with the pool floor.

I hope you sell it for twice what you want for it after renovating it for half the price you had anticipated! You know, I think your raccoon diving board is hilarious, but other folks are just total losers. It’s not fun for anyone to go for the crap and lose your balance. My wish is that they trip and fall in. :joy::joy::joy:

@BreaststrokeBuff We’re remodeling it; our new house; the interior is finished, the mother-in-law cottage in the rear (little glimpse in the pool shot) is up next, and the pool and new deck come last.

@Umbrielle If so, I hope your new house brings you years of enjoyment and contentment! :house_with_garden:

I would try using a motion-activated sprinkler or building up a cage to trap them and then releasing them in the woods far from your house. They cost around $50.

I’m curious whether anyone is giving them food in your neighborhood or if they just throw dog or cat food out for their animals.
