I have always wanted to take swimming lessons, but for years I was too nervous. I am finally prepared to dive right now. Is there anyone who overcame their phobia of water as an adult? How many classes were required before you felt at ease? Trying to avoid breaking the bank, but worried mastering the basics might take forever. I am an adult learner; any advice? I would want to hear about your encounters!
As a complete novice, I began last year at the age of 40. Excellent physical health at my age. In almost a month, I could cover about 10 meters. The 25 meters of the pool took me 4 months to complete. I’m still trying to reach 50 meters three months later. Approaching. Though it’s the toughest thing I’ve ever attempted, I’ve never had more pleasure trying something like this.
In my view, book about 5 classes, spaced out every two weeks, and go for a couple of swims per week between these lessons to practise what you’re doing in your lessons.
Adult swim lessons! No magic number, depends on comfort (faster learners: 6-12 weeks, 1-2 lessons/week). Focus on feeling safe, not speed. Tips: adult classes, patient instructor, practice between lessons. Save money: group lessons, community pools, check insurance. You got this!
