Leak in the in-ground pool. Stumped

In-ground pool

It could be the light conduit—use figure 8 butyl tape around the ground wire and light cord behind the light and seal the conduit. There might be a crack in the plaster, which may need a diver if the leak is causing significant water loss, but divers can be pricey. It could also be a plumbing issue, in which case someone will need to do a pressure test on the pipes.

Examine the pool’s lighting.

The pool pump could be causing the water loss, but since it’s below the light and returns, the problem could be with the bottom drains, the hydrostatic valve, or a crack in the pool’s structure.

Your pool has a leak in the pipes, either in the cleaning line or the return line, depending on how fast the water level drops. If the water goes down quickly in a few hours, the return line is probably the issue. If it drops overnight, the problem might be with the cleaning line. There’s not enough information for anyone to really help. What have you checked already? How long did it take for the water level to drop this much? Is there a bottom drain? Has any major work been done on the pool recently? Are any of the pool pipes still below the waterline? And why is there a garden hose pump in the pool?

@Terryanne My thoughts exactly! @BreaststrokeBuff should give a little more insight.
