Snorkeling for front crawl?

I’m new to swimming outside of leisure and I’m relatively out of shape. I love doing my cardio from swimming but when I do my front crawl/freestyle, I get so winded I need to breathe after every 1-2 arm movements. I was thinking about getting a snorkel, is this a common practice?

If it helps, why not?

@EVERLY Fair enough. I’m a little afraid of looking like a dipshit in the pool being larger than most swimmers and using a snorkel in a 4 ft deep lap pool but change comes out of discomfort

You gotta get over feeling like a dipshit  That said, improving your cardio, and even more importantly learning correct form, will go a LOOOOONG way towards addressing the need to breathe so frequently. It’ll take some time, but once it clicks you’ll look back at this post and understand.

@Letsgototheriver Thanks. I need to learn form. I had swimming lessons when I was like 7 and since then sorta been going off vibes

Honestly most people will just think you’re training for something like a triathlon and using a snorkel for training is very normal

@EVERLY My big ass ain’t doing a triathlon  but I appreciate the support lmao

I’ve seen people of larger builds competing in Oceanman so it’s definitely not uncommon
