We still doing empty pools or am I too late?

I embrace all the empty pools :man_swimming:

Coronado!

Is this a base pool? I typically go to the Y but I would mix it for a long course pool!

Not on base! Coronado Aquatic Center. This one is a tad expensive at $16 a swim—I only do it if I plan to swim longer than 3000 meters. There’s also Brian Bent Aquatics Center which is not far that has long course during some weekends and they only charge $5. The water is just as clean, but the pool isn’t as bougie and doesn’t have that gorgeous view.

@Reeve
Thanks for the info! $16 is definitely pricey but sometimes it’s worth it to mix it up. I’m 8 months pregnant and minimizing my open turns sounds wonderful right now.

For pools that have long course hours, there’s also William A. Wagner Aquatic Center in Oceanside and the Poway Aquatic Center, but it doesn’t seem like they currently have long course hours during the weekend—only Tuesday/Thursday. I do see long course hours listed at the JCC in La Jolla, but it looks like they might have switched to membership only. It’s tough finding 50m pools around SD; I usually drive like 30 mins or schedule PTO if I want to swim long course :weary::droplet:. Good excuse for ditching the 24-hour gym pools though; those are foul.

@Reeve
Holy shit! $16 a swim is crazy :sob::sob::sob:. I am very fortunate to have the Burt Flickinger Center as my pool. Maybe you should set up a GoFundMe so you can swim there more often :joy::joy:. That pool does look super sweet though, and extremely well maintained. Long course too :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:.

It’s never too late for an empty pool as far as I am concerned. Go on, make me jealous :smile:

Agreed. Especially with an amazing view.

What are the membership requirements for this pool? I swim at UCSD and am looking to do long course more often.

This one is pricey for a membership—$112 a month. I only do day passes here on the days I plan to swim for a long time. Nearby UCSD, there is the JCC that has long course hours and that’s $94 a month, but I’ve never been. I used to love the UCSD pool when I was there, but now as an alumni, it’s crazy finding parking to use Canyon View.

@Reeve
Thank you, I’ll check out JCC.

Stunning :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

Amphib pool.

I’ve always wondered what that pool looked like. Very cool!

I hope empty pools never end.

Like glass! I love being the only ripple.
