Why does pressure increase with depth?

Does anyone know why the pressure gets so intense the deeper you go? Is it just the weight of the water?

Yup, it’s all about the weight of the water above you. Every 10 meters adds about one atmosphere of pressure.

Fun fact: it’s why submarines have to be super strong. They need to resist tons of water pressure!

And it’s not just water weight—it’s also about how incompressible liquids like water transfer pressure evenly.
