Looking for your favorite gear recommendations

Hi everyone I’m new to swimming and will hopefully start lessons soon I’m eager to hear about some durable gear that will last me a while while allowing for upgrades in the future What are your daily essentials or go-to items Below is what I know I’m definitely looking for

  • 2 pairs of briefs (I can be lazy with laundry)
  • Goggles
  • Board and buoy

Don’t put your suits in the washing machine it wears them out really fast

And a towel unless you’re in Arizona

Swimoutlet.com is the place to go - places like Dicks and other sporting goods stores are not great for swimming gear

It’s surprising that places like Dick’s stock so much golf gear and climbing equipment but you can hardly find any swimming gear

Oh awesome I have quite a few swim shops in my city so I’ll look for what I need there and then check out Swim Outlet

For briefs Speedo Endurance+ are great they last long and are pretty comfy to wear

For goggles I recommend Speedo Biofuse goggles for casual swimmers They are comfortable and provide a good field of view plus there are lots of designs and colors

As for kickboards and buoys any brand works as long as they do the job

@Kyrie
Thanks for the tips I’ll look into these and get a pair

@Kyrie
I disagree about the Biofuse the gaskets are thinner than on competition style goggles I tore mine in two places after just a few months but they were comfy while they lasted

That sounds like an issue specific to your pair I’ve had Speedo Biofuse goggles for years and never had problems I even have a pair that are still comfy even with some wear on the straps

Don’t forget a water bottle or tumbler A stainless steel one keeps your water cold the entire workout

Get a brief from Turbo it lasts forever

I just checked them out cool designs I might get my brief from them and a couple of plain jammers from Speedo

They have some of the nicest ones but be ready for the euro cut

I’ve enjoyed having a pair of clear goggles for evening swims and a tinted pair for daytime TYR board and buoy have held up well for me too
